Sean Terpstra brings more than a decade of experience across real estate, property management, and development. Born and raised in West Michigan, he has always called the area home. As the son of a custom home builder, Sean was introduced early to the importance of hard work, quality craftsmanship, and doing things the right way — values that continue to guide his work today.

From an early age, Sean was present on job sites alongside his father, learning the technical aspects of construction firsthand. By 13, he was actively helping on site, and by 14 he was involved in his first flip and rental renovation. He continued working full-time on job sites during summers and part-time throughout college, while also participating in the purchase and improvement of additional rental properties beginning in 2006–2007. These formative, hands-on experiences solidified his path into real estate and development.

Sean graduated Summa Cum Laude from Grand Valley State University with a double major in Finance and Business Economics. He obtained his real estate license in 2014 and his broker’s license in 2018. Today, he serves buyers, sellers, and investors with clarity, confidence, and a long-term perspective.

In addition to his work with TBRE, Sean co-owns Uptown Property Management with his father. Over the past decade, he has overseen asset management, leasing, and maintenance for a growing investment portfolio that now includes 85+ residential units. His experience spans new construction, residential and commercial development, fix-and-flip projects, and long-term buy-and-hold investments — giving him a comprehensive understanding of how properties perform well beyond the transaction.

Outside of work, Sean enjoys making the most of Michigan summers — boating, golfing, and spending time up north at the family cottage in Elk Rapids. He stays active year-round through CrossFit and enjoys traveling with his partner, Mary, frequently visiting the Upper Peninsula, the Florida Keys, and the Bahamas. When he’s not working with clients, Sean keeps busy growing and managing his own real estate investment portfolio. Sean and Mary are also always on the lookout for a great brewery or cidery — often accompanied by their boxer, Olive, who happily joins whenever possible!
